Day Five - Day trip George to Prince Albert Valley and back - Tuesday 7th May 2013

We woke to strong winds and were concerned it might spoil our planned trip, but leaving George again going through the Outeniqua Pass, the wind dropped and the day became calm and clear. We travelled through Oudtshoorn, frightening the ostriches with the noise of the bikes, to De Rust and stopping at Meiringspoort, which is a beautiful 18km stretch of road cut through the Swartberg mountains. While there we took a short stroll to a waterfall and drank fresh mountain water from the pools at the bottom of it. From there we rode on to Prince Albert Valley for lunch. On the way home, Bruce and I came back by the same route we had taken there, but Mien and Paul, being on a dual-purpose bike, rode back on a dirt road through the Swartberg Pass. What a wonderful country we live in!
